On August 3, 2025, ElevenLabs launched Eleven Music, a generative model that lets users create studio-grade music directly from natural language prompts. The product extends the company's audio expertise beyond speech into full musical composition, enabling businesses, creators, artists, and everyday users to produce complete tracks in a matter of minutes simply by describing what they want in plain text.

Eleven Music gives users complete control over the creative output. Tracks can be generated in any genre or style, with full customization of structure, and users can choose to include vocals or generate instrumental-only versions. The model is multilingual, supporting English, Spanish, German, Japanese, and additional languages, so creators can produce songs with vocals in their target market's language. A prompt engineering guide accompanies the launch to help users refine their descriptions and steer the model toward the exact sound they are after.

A defining feature of the launch is its commercial licensing posture. ElevenLabs states that Eleven Music is cleared for nearly all commercial uses, spanning film and television, podcasts, social media videos, advertisements, and gaming. This clean-licensing approach differentiates Eleven Music from many competing AI music tools, giving businesses and professional creators the confidence to use generated tracks in monetized and client-facing work without the copyright ambiguity that has clouded much of the AI music space. To support this, ElevenLabs secured licensing arrangements with rights partners including Merlin Network, the digital rights agency representing independent labels, and Kobalt Music Group ahead of the launch.

To demonstrate the model's range, the launch showcased six sample compositions spanning a deliberately wide stylistic spread: indie rock, cinematic orchestral, a 1950s crooner style, electronic trailer music, folk, and jam band styles. These examples highlight the model's ability to move across eras, instrumentation, and production aesthetics, from intimate acoustic arrangements to large, dramatic orchestral and electronic pieces suitable for trailers and advertising.

At launch, Eleven Music was available through the ElevenLabs website, with public API access and integration into the Conversational AI platform noted as coming soon. This staged rollout mirrors ElevenLabs' approach with previous products, opening the creative tooling to end users first through the web interface before exposing programmatic access for developers who want to embed music generation into their own applications and pipelines.

Eleven Music quickly gained traction after release. In the months following the August 2025 launch, the ElevenLabs community generated more than 8 million songs using the platform, and the company continued to expand the product with additional editing and production capabilities in updates through December 2025. This momentum set the foundation for the later Music v2 model, launched on May 25, 2026, which brought a groundbreaking new architecture capable of switching genres mid-track, delivering fast rap without losing coherence, and layering in non-musical sound effects, cementing music generation as a core pillar of the ElevenLabs product suite.
